Gymnasts are beaming with joy
A gymnastics club has moved into a bigger premises and taken on 350 more children thanks to a £65,000 grant.
Dudley Gymnastics Club has been based at Ellowes School in previous years but has now converted a warehouse in Little Cottage Street, Brierley Hill, thanks for the funding from Enovert Community Trust and Ibstock Community Trust.
Head coach and director Sarah Davies said: “We have received grants to renovate and we are opening on April 12 in our new venue.
“We have had people on our waiting lists for three years but this gym opening has given us the opportunity to clear waiting lists and open up spaces initially to 350 children, and then when restrictions lift more children can get a space.
“We are a community project, enlisting the help of local companies who have been amazing such as Elsm Electrics, Atom Carpentry and Construction, Heat Flow UK and Chris Hill Carpets.
“We cater for under fours, recreational for those aged four to 16 right through to elites and we are in the process of creating timetable for disability and and adult classes.”
As the club is a community interest company, profits will be given to Brierley Hill Project, and Hawbush Community Garden will be creating an edible garden from the surrounding land.
IET spokeswoman Angela Haymonds said: “This is just one of the many community projects Ibstock Enovert Trust has funded through the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF).”
