Images reveal how new Dudley Leisure Centre will look
New images have been released showing what Dudley’s new £18 million leisure centre will look like.
The artist’s impressions have been released showing how the reception and lobby, pool area, sports hall and changing rooms will look at the Flood Street site.
The centre should already have been built but the project was delayed by around a year due to the initial plans having to be revised.
The new target is to have the centre open in time for the 2022 Commonwealth Games, being held in Birmingham.
The £18.2 million project is funded by Dudley Council and being delivered by Alliance Leisure.
The new facility will include a 25-metre swimming pool, teaching pool, four-court sports hall, gym and exercise studios.
There will also be a soft play area with catering facilities, a party room and cafe.
Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of the council, said: “These latest images show an exciting glimpse into the future.
“Dudley will soon have a new, state-of-the-art leisure centre for everyone in the borough to enjoy.
"A centre where there will be something for everyone, suitable for all ages, a place where families can go to make memories.
“Work is progressing very well and as part of a wider regeneration programme, including the new Metro link, it is a very exciting time.
“The plans are part of a wider major regeneration programme bringing over £1 billion investment to the town centre.
“The leisure centre will benefit from excellent public transport links through the forthcoming adjacent Metro stop and the nearby bus interchange.”
