Walmley Golf Club reveals renovation plans
Walmley Golf Club has applied to make renovations to its club house.
The club, based in Brooks Road, wants to extend a balcony and add new windows on the ground floor.
Plans also include new toilets on first floor and the construction of a trolley store building.
A report by Cerda Planning Limited says: "Walmley Golf Club is a long-established facility with outdated buildings.
"The whole of the site is within the Green Belt.
"The application site comprises the clubhouse building, which currently provides an entrance lobby, changing rooms, offices, a pro shop with office and ladies trolley store at
ground floor with a snooker room, dining room, bar, meeting room, office and kitchen at first floor for use by Club Members.
"The planning application seeks consent to refurbish and upgrade the existing club house.
"The majority of work proposed is internal reconfiguration of the existing space to make the use of the building more practical for its users.
"External alterations as a result include the insertion of new windows to the office at ground floor, a new door to the men’s changing room at ground floor, the installation of a spiral staircase leading up to an enlarged wrap-around balcony at first floor, bi-folding doors to serve the dining and a small extension to provide WCs.
"The proposals also seek permission for the erection of a new building which will be used as a trolley store.
"It will be located to the south of the clubhouse along the edge of the car park, screened by a mature conifer hedge. This area is currently used to store buggies only.
"The improvements and refurbishment to the 55 year-old building is integral to the clubhouse’s efficiency, as well as the service it provides to its members."
