Talks on Sutton Coldfield footway extension plan which will see parking spaces removed
Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council will consider their views on a proposal to extend the footway outside the Halifax Bank on Birmingham Road.
Birmingham City Council propose to remove the three existing parking spaces outside the bank and ‘introduce a kerbed build out’ following the footprint of the existing social distancing measures to create a footway extension.
An information briefing says: “Further to the success of the social distancing measures in Sutton Coldfield outside the Halifax bank, delivered under the emergency powers, the decision has been taken to extend the footway permanently to create an enhanced space for pedestrians.”
The move would result in the loss of three disabled parking spaces.
The City Council have said: “ Our recommendation would be to proceed with the footway extension as there are enough disabled bays and disabled parking in the vicinity.”
The Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council will discuss the proposal at a planning meeting on Tuesday.
