More than 530,000 receive both Covid jabs in region
More than 530,000 people living in the Black Country and Staffordshire have received two doses of a Covid vaccine, figures reveal.
In Wolverhampton, 83,444 people have received both jabs by May 23, while in Dudley it was 112,949, 93,133 in Walsall and in Sandwell it was 97,710.
By May 23, 58,205 had received both vaccinations in Stafford, 48,756 in South Staffordshire and 40,452 in Cannock.
It means that in Wolverhampton 40 per cent of those aged 16 and over had received both jabs, based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics. In Dudley it was 44 per cent, 42 per cent in Walsall and 38 per cent in Sandwell.
While over in Staffordshire it was 51 per cent in Stafford, 49 per cent in Cannock and 51 per cent in South Staffordshire.
Across England, 19.4 million people had received a second dose of the jab by May 23 – 43 per cent of the population aged over 16 and over. That includes 17 million people aged 40 and over – 60 per cent of the age group.
In total, 31.6 million people had received at least one dose of a vaccine by the same date, covering 70 per cent of people over 16.
