No Covid deaths announced at region's hospitals in latest figures

No new coronavirus deaths have been confirmed in the Black Country, Staffordshire and Birmingham in the latest figures released by health bosses.

It means the number of Covid deaths at hospitals in the region remains at 7,560.

On top of this, a total of 1,387 people have died in the region’s care homes after contracting coronavirus.

NHS England confirmed one further death on Monday, meaning 86,742 people have now died in the country's hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19.

A total of 800 people have died at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, while 733 have been confirmed to have died at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust and 720 at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.

A total of 1,167 have died at both the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust and the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust.

And 2,601 patients have died at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.

Meanwhile, 36,147,077 vaccinations have been carried out across England to date – including first and second doses.

In the Midlands, 5,369,031 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine has been administered, while 1,521,701 second doses have been carried out.

The data includes vaccinations carried out between December 8 and April 18.
