Louise Forsyth was able to see her mother Patricia for the first time in nearly a year

Patricia Clegg had only seen her daughter Louise Forsyth once since the start of the coronavirus pandemic after moving into Barrowhill Hall in Rocester in Uttoxeter.

The 88-year-old had been cared for by her daughter in Lichfield, but was moved into Barrowhill Hall due to her advancing dementia.

Louise said: “The past year has been incredibly difficult so to be able to finally go and hold her hand and sit with her has been a very precious time.

“I didn’t get to see her for the first six months she was here because of the infection prevention measures but I did have window visits and Facetime calls with her.

"You can find ways around it but it’s not the same as going in and being with her. I am so thrilled to be able to come in and sit with her now.”

Wearing full PPE, she was able to sit with Patricia for an hour and staff arranged the bunch of flowers Louise had brought as a gift.

She said: “Mum doesn’t communicate very well now so it’s a huge relief to be able to see her and know that she is well and really happy in her new home.

"I can’t wait to come to see Mum again. To hear her say ‘Hello Love’ is just gold dust.”
