Further nine coronavirus deaths confirmed at region's hospitals and care homes
A further nine coronavirus deaths have been confirmed in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.
Three deaths were announced in the region's hospitals on Tuesday, meaning 7,450 patients have died with the virus in the region's hospitals.
On top of this, a further 1,383 have died in the region's care homes after contracting coronavirus, after six new deaths were announced on Tuesday. Two deaths were announced in Staffordshire, two in Dudley, one in Birmingham and one in Sandwell. No new deaths were announced at Wolverhampton or Walsall care homes in the latest figures.
NHS England confirmed a further 101 hospital deaths on Tuesday, meaning 85,411 have now died in the country's hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19.
One death was announced at the Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals, where 1,150 people have now died with Covid.
Two deaths were confirmed at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Queen Elizabeth Hospital as well as Heartlands, Solihull and Good Hope hospitals, taking the death toll there to 2,562.
No new deaths were announced at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust where the total remains 789, or at the Dudley Group NHS Trust where the death toll now stands at 718.
There were also no new deaths recorded at either the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust or the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, where the totals stand at 712 and 1,360 respectively.
Elsewhere, one death was reported at the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
A spokesman for NHS England said: "A further 101 people, who tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 85,411.
"Patients were aged between 37 and 96 years old. All except two – aged 62 to 70 years old – had known underlying health conditions.
"Date of death ranges from January 1, to March 15, with the majority being on or after March 12.
"Their families have been informed."
Meanwhile, 22,284,040 coronavirus vaccinations have been carried out across England to date – including first and second doses.
In the Midlands, 4,139,979 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine has been administered, while 194,516 second doses have been carried out.
The data includes vaccinations carried out between December 8 and March 15.
