Rates of uptake for vaccine revealed in new NHS data
Thousands of people in the Black Country and Staffordshire have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine – but new figures also show areas in the region with the lowest coverage.
The NHS data reveals the variation in coverage between different areas in parts of the Black Country and Staffordshire.
The data shows that in Wolverhampton 73,884 people had received a vaccine by February 28 – equating to 36 per cent of those aged 16 and over.
Areas with the highest coverage included Tettenhall South with 52.9 per cent and Compton and Merry Hill North with 49 per cent of people aged 16 and over given their first dose.
While Waterloo Road and Wolverhampton Central had the lowest coverage, with 12.9 per cent and 20.9 per cent respectively.
In Walsall, 85,590 had received their vaccine by February 28 – 38 per cent of those aged 16 and over. The areas with the highest coverage included Streetly North with 52.1 per cent, while Walsall Central was the lowest with 25.1 per cent.
The data shows 102,430 people had their jab in Dudley – equating to 40 per cent of those aged 16 and over. Areas with the highest coverage included Sedgley West at 53.6 per cent and Wall Heath at 50.3 per cent, while Kates Hill was one of the lowest with 26.4 per cent.
In Sandwell, 86,140 had received their first dose of the vaccine by February 28 – 34 per cent of those aged 16 and over. The areas with the highest coverage included Great Barr with 45.9 per cent, while Smethwick East was one of the lowest at 21.9 per cent.
Around 52,685 had their vaccination in Stafford – equating to 46 per cent of those aged 16 and over. Areas with the highest coverage included Weeping Cross and Brocton with 53.5 per cent, while Central Stafford was one of the lowest with 32.3 per cent.
In Cannock Chase, 33,606 had received their vaccine – equating to 41 per cent of those aged 16 and over. Areas with the highest coverage included Cannock West and Mill Green with 47.6 per cent, while the lowest was Hawks Green with 32.9 per cent.
And in South Staffordshire, 42,818 had been vaccinated by February 28 – 45 per cent of those aged 16 and over, according to estimates by ONS.
