West Midlands Mayor Andy Street announces mother's death from Covid-19
Andy Street has announced that his mother has died of Covid-19.
The West Midlands Mayor said his mother died of the virus on February 3.
He paid tribute to staff who supported her at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham prior to her death.
Mr Street said in a tweet: "Painfully, yesterday, I joined so many others in our region who have lost a loved one to Covid - my Mum.
"All I want to say is to offer my sincere thanks, appreciation, and respect to the staff at Heartlands for all they did for her, and for everything they do day in and day out."
