Further 66 coronavirus deaths recorded in Birmingham, Black Country and Staffordshire hospitals
A further 66 coronavirus patients have died in hospitals in the Black Country, Birmingham and Staffordshire.
The deaths announced on Sunday mean a total of 6,247 patients have died in the in the region's hospitals. A further 1,085 people have died in the region's care homes, official figures show.
NHS England reported a further 563 deaths across England which brings the number of deaths to 71,789. Of those 141 were in the Midlands, which had the largest number of deaths of all the regions.
A total of 22 deaths were reported at the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City hospitals, where the death toll now stands at 929.
A further 15 deaths were recorded at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which runs New Cross Hospital, where the death toll is 667.
A total of 11 deaths were announced at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust, which runs Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where the overall death toll increased to 2,151.
Eight deaths were recorded at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, which runs the main hospitals in Stoke and Stafford, where there has now been 1,195 deaths.
A further nine deaths were confirmed at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs Walsall Manor Hospital, where there have been 584 deaths since the pandemic began.
One further death was reported at the Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in Staffordshire.
A spokesman for NHS England said: "A further 563 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 71,789.
"Patients were aged between 24 and 99 years old. All except 29 (aged 34 to 97 years old) had known underlying health conditions."
