Sandwell Hospital wards remain shut as bug breaks out

Two wards at Sandwell Hospital remain closed today, due to the winter vomiting bug norovirus.

All visitors to the hospital are being screened before they allowed on the wards in a bid to halt the spread of infection.

The West Bromwich hospital only opened to visitors yesterday after a week of closure. A total of 21 patients came down with the illness.

Lyndon three ward and Priory five remain closed to visitors because of the bug.

Those visitors who have had vomiting, diarrhoea, coughs, colds and sneezes in the last 48 hours are being asked to stay away from the hospital to avoid the spread of infection.
