Biker dies after crashing into tree in Halesowen

A motoryclist has died after his bike crashed into a tree in Halesowen.

The rider, aged 22, was given CPR by passers-by and paramedics at the scene on A456 Manor Way, but could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.

Two ambulances and the Midlands Air Ambulance were all rushed to Manor Way after the crash happened near to the Grange Hill junction at around 9.30am yesterday.

Today Sgt Paul Hughes, from the Regional Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This is a tragic incident and I would ask for anyone who saw what happened and hasn't spoken to a police officer to come forward urgently.

"The family are currently being supported by officers from our dedicated Family Liaison Unit."

West Midlands Ambulance spokeswoman Claire Brown said: "Ambulance crews arrived to find passers-by administering CPR to a motorcyclist, a man, who had been involved in a collision. Ambulance staff immediately took over resuscitation efforts and commenced advanced life support.

"Sadly, the motorcyclist couldn't be saved and he was confirmed dead on scene."

It came hours before a separate serious crash involving a motorcyclist in Rowley Regis.

Paramedics were called to Birmingham Road shortly after 7.30pm on Sunday evening.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Brown said: "Upon arrival ambulance staff found a motorcyclist, a man, unconscious with multiple serious injuries."

He was given treatment by crews at the scene before being taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital for continued care.
