20 firefighters tackle Oldbury meat shop blaze

Published

Twenty firefighters tackled a severe fire behind a row of shops in Oldbury.

A storage unit in Rood End Road went up in flames at around 1.20pm, forcing the road to be closed off.

The fire broke out in the unit, at the back of a meat centre at the junction with Tat Bank Road, sending smoke billowing into the air.

A propane cylinder that was in the steel and timber outbuilding also exploded, increasing the strength of the fire.

The blaze was brought under control by firefighters from West Bromwich, Oldbury and Smethwick and was out by around 3.30pm.

Nobody was hurt.
