Forty homes evacuated after gas leak sparks Wolverhampton house blaze

Forty homes in Wolverhampton have been evacuated after a gas leak sparked a blaze in a house.

The fire in a terraced house broke out at around 6.20am, and led to the evacuations, as well as the electric supply to the street being isolated and the road being dug up to isolate the gas supply.

The fire in Fisher Street has closed the road between Lea Road and Bristol Street.

Elsewhere in Wolverhampton a serious fire broke out at a substation leading to power loss warnings.
