Man critically ill after crash near Wolverhampton

A pedestrian was left critically ill after being hit by a car near Wolverhampton this evening.

It happened at about 5.45pm near to the junction of Burnhill Green Road and Snowdon Road in Burnhill Green, near Pattingham, South Staffordshire.

The middle-aged man was left with serious head and facial injuries and a possible fractured pelvis.

West Midlands Amnbulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said: "A bystander was doing an excellent job of administering basic first aid on the man.

"The car involved had suffered significant damage to the windscreen.

"The driver was not seen by ambulance staff."

The pedestrian was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
