The Public Accounts Committee said today at least £482 million of taxpayers' money had been wasted on the nine centres, intended by the last Labour government to replace 46 local fire and rescue control rooms.
But the current Coalition is also under fire for failing to find a use for the empty buildings.
Four of the nine planned regional centres are still empty – including the one on Wolverhampton Business Park and the prospects of finding new tenants 'do not look good' said the MPs.
