Ravens Rescue UK announced on its Facebook page that it was closing its Sedgley branch after finding the front door of the shop on Dudley Street had been damaged.

The glass door was left with a number of cracks and the wooden frame damaged after the attack, which is believed to have taken place between Monday and Wednesday.

A spokeswoman for Ravens Rescue said the incident, which was the second in a number of weeks, had led the shop to close its doors permanently with all items moved to thr Kingswinford shop.

She said: "We have been in Sedgley for many, many years and always made welcome by the locals who today have all passed on their sympathy at the closing.

"Having had the window broken a few weeks ago by another drunken man, we just can’t face it anymore and don’t wish to risk all our hard work, so the shop has been emptied and will unfortunately never be opened by us again.

"We would like to thank all the customers who we will miss, but some have already said they’re going to pop into our Kingswinford Shop."

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police Service said: "We are investigating an attempted break in at a charity shop on Dudley Street, Sedgley earlier this week.

"No property was taken, however the front door was damaged. It is believed to have happened between 3pm on Monday (30 August) and 10.30am on Wednesday (1 September).
