Nabil Akhtar was arrested earlier this week in connection with the killing of Mr Mohamed in April.

The 30-year-old of Sandhurst Close, Redditch has now been charged with murder.

He appeared before Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday and was remanded until a hearing on May 24.

Mr Mohamed was found critically injured in Shyltons Croft, Ladywood, at just before 4.20am on April 22.

A post mortem revealed the 26-year-old died from a stab wound to his arm.

In a tribute, his family described Mr Mohamed as a “devoted son, loving uncle and affectionate brother who was loved and cherished by all”.

“A bubbly, warm-hearted and selfless individual with a beaming smile and captivating presence.

“A strong pillar of the community. This heart-rending news has shook the city of Birmingham.”

Two other men - 26-year-old Kasim Ifzaal of Ombersley Road, Sparkbrook, and Mohib Tasharat, 24, of Wenlock Road, Birmingham - have previously been charged with murder and also remanded in custody.

Despite these charges West Midlands Police still need to hear from anyone with information who can assist the investigation.
