Two arrested for damage to vehicles and failing to stop for police
Two men have been arrested for failing to stop for police and causing damage to several vehicles in the West Midlands.
A red VW Golf was spotted on the Bristol Road, in Birmingham, just after 11.30am on Sunday, February 21 – after being involved in a road rage incident in Selly Oak where a car was damaged with weapons.
The car failed to stop for police and was initially pursued, but the pursuit was abandoned as the Golf travelled the wrong way down the dual carriageway and it became too dangerous to continue.
A spokesman from West Midlands Police said: "It then emerged that more cars were damaged as the passenger struck them with a baseball bat as they travelled along Mary Vale Road.
"The car was spotted two hours later on Golden Hillock Road and again failed to stop for officers. The car continued to be driven dangerously and crashed into street furniture.
"The two occupants attempted to make off on foot but were detained by officers, who also found weapons, including a bat and a shovel, in the car.
"The men, aged 24 and 27, remain in custody on suspicion of dangerous driving, criminal damage, failing to stop for police, disqualified driving and possession of offensive weapons."
