Jailed: Father put lives at risk in police chase which saw him hit three parked cars
A father-of-three, who put lives at risk when he drove through residential streets at 60mph and collided with three parked cars, has been jailed.
Jack Bullock drove onto the pavement at one stage – and later sped through a pedestrian area as he tried to escape from the police.
Bullock, of Green Rock Lane, Walsall, had previously pleaded guilty at Wolverhampton Crown Court to dangerous driving, and also admitted possessing an offensive weapon and a bladed article.
When he was stopped by police, the 21-year-old was also found to be in possession of a knuckle duster and had a machete in the car.
At Warwick Crown Court, Bullock was jailed for a total of 14 months and banned from driving for three years and seven months.
Prosecutor Gary Cook said that at 8.30pm on Saturday, November 16, 2019, police officers in an unmarked car saw a silver-coloured Audi A3 on false number plates in Walsall Wood.
They got out and went over to speak to the driver, but as they got to the nearside door, Bullock suddenly sped off.
He reached 60mph as the police pursued him along Queens Road, a residential street with a 20mph speed limit.
As he turned into Edinburgh Drive, still at high speed, he collided with a stationary vehicle and drove onto the pavement before rejoining the road.
In his pocket the officers who arrested him found a knuckleduster, while in the central console of the car was a machete with a two-foot blade, said Mr Cook.
Jailing Bullock, Judge Barry Berlin told him: “You are 21 years of age now and you have no previous convictions. That is the best that can be said for you.
"This was a 60mph chase through built-up areas. You put the public at high risk.”
