Man critically injured in Dudley shooting
A man has been left in a critical condition after being shot in the Black Country.
The man, aged in his 30s, was shot in the early hours of Sunday morning in Queens Cross, Dudley.
He was rushed to hospital where he remained in a critical condition on Sunday afternoon.
The area remained cordoned off throughout the day after emergency services were called at around 12.35am.
So far no arrests have been made.
The cordon stretched from the section of Queens Cross adjacent to Junction Street down to the end of the route at the junction of Aston Road.
Specialist search and forensic teams were on the scene and a blue tent had been erected by the force opposite Flex Physiques on the road.
Residents living nearby said it was a "nice area normally", with others describing it as being "quite quiet".
A neighbour, who didn't want to be named, said: "I didn't hear anything but my husband heard gunshots in the middle of the night.
"We saw the police cars show up at around 1am – he said it was a couple of shots and described the noise to me."
Another resident said: "I thought someone was kicking my door in actually – I jumped out of bed and I looked out the window, but couldn't see anything.
"From our bathroom window, which was on the latch, you could hear screaming – like kids running around. It's normally quite quiet around here."
