Walsall Yates's attack: Man bailed after England fan left fighting for life

A man arrested after an England fan was left fighting for life after watching a game in Walsall's Yates's bar has been released on bail.

The victim, from Willenhall and aged 30, was left with a bleed on the brain after he was punched to the floor in the Leicester Street bar on Thursday.

He had gone to the pub with friends to watch England's 2-1 Euro 2016 afternoon victory over Wales but was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital after being attacked at around 9.30pm.

On Saturday, morning a 30-year-old man from Walsall handed himself in to police and was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Today West Midlands Police said he had been released on bail pending further investigations.
