A property in Dovedale Avenue, Willenhall, was targeted and residents reported hearing two to three shots and a car speeding off. No-one was injured in the shooting, which took place at 10.30pm on Thursday, but shots damaged the front door and two vehicles parked on the driveway of the property.

An investigation is underway

Neighbours described waking up this morning to find the street a hive of activity.

One police van was at the scene overnight, with additional officers arriving at 7am.

A cordon was set up, with officers posted either end of the Avenue and at the junction of Trentham Avenue. An officer was also stationed at the door of the semi-detached house.

John Fletcher, aged 68, who lives on nearby Trentham Avenue, said: "All we heard was the bangs, three or four bangs, and our neighbours saw the car speed off.

"It's normally very quiet down here but this is quite unnerving."

West Midlands Police said: "Police are investigating after shots were fired at a house in Dovedale Avenue, at around 10.30pm on April 14.

"No-one was injured; the shots damaged the front door and two vehicles on the driveway.

Police presence in Dovedale Avenue

"The house has been cordoned off while forensic experts examine the scene."

Claire Haywood, 41, who has an 18-month-old daughter called Taly, said: "I wasn't here when it happened, I got back at around midnight.

"I'm really quite worried to be honest with you. I know it sounds daft but you always think, what if there was a stray bullet? Anything could have happened.

"We've lived here for 13 years and ever since we've had Taly there seems to have been incident after incident.

"About six weeks ago my next door neighbour got her car burned out on her driveway."

Police cordons in place at the scene

Ray Lockley, 80, who lives on the corner of Trentham Avenue, connecting to Dovedale Avenue, said: "My daughter said she heard the shots.

"I got up to go to the bathroom at around 2.30am and looked out the window to see all the police and the lights on in that house."

An arson attack took place on the road on January 28 this year, with a couple's blue Chevrolet Spark targeted just after midnight.

Tina Cole, 47, said she had just gone to bed when she heard the blaze on her driveway.
