Armed robbers flee after raid at NatWest in Aldridge
A manhunt is underway after a bank robbery in Walsall today.
Two men entered the Natwest bank on Anchor Road, Aldridge, just after 1.45pm, before threatening staff and making off with cash.
No one was injured in the robbery and police are still investigating as to whether the men were armed.
West Midlands Police spokesperson Hannah Fitzgerald said: "We were called to reports of a robbery at Natwest on Anchor Road in Aldridge at just after 1.45pm this afternoon.
"Up to two men threatened staff and a quantity of cash was stolen.
"No one was injured.
"The area has been cordoned off and anyone with information is urged to call 101.
Local business owner James Riley of Riley's Insurance, based opposite the bank said: "Police arrived in BMW and then armed police came soon after.
"It has been shut since about lunch time and I've had a couple of customers come in and ask why the bank was closed.
"I didn't see much but it was closed for hours."
