St Giles Hospice workers returned from the Christmas break to find the white Ford Transit had been taken from their Shenstone warehouse.

The theft of the van, which is yet to be found, happened on December 27 at around 6.40pm.

Since bosses launched their appeal for the van, it has been viewed over 138,000 times on Facebook and over 10,000 times on Twitter.

The hospice, which cares for the seriously ill, used the van to collect and deliver donations to its shops around the region.

It has had one call from the member of the public with a possible sighting but it did not come to fruition.

Emma Hodges, the chief executive officer of the hospice, said: "We have had an overwhelming response and local support from people after we put the appeal for the van out which is great.

"But we need to find it."

The stolen vehicle did not have any donations inside of it at the time it was stolen.

The vehicle's last movement was recorded at 9.25pm on December 27 at an unknown location. It features green St Giles Hospice logos on either side of the vehicle and has the registration number YS11 YMM.

It is one of four St Giles Hospice vans and the remaining three are still on the roads delivering and collecting donations.

This has led Staffordshire Police to urge members of the public to double-check the registration plates before contacting them about the stolen van. St Giles Hospice is a registered charity providing medical and nursing care for local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses.

It also gives support families and helpers.

The charity began life at the former vicarage of St Giles Church in Whittington in 1983.

It now has more than 400 staff, over 1,500 volunteers and 31 charity shops across the region.
