West Midlands Police said the victim, named today as 24-year-old Indiga Daniel Wallace, known as Danny to his family and Indy to friends, died from head injuries.

Police were called to the flat in Fisher Street just before 10.30am on Wednesday by paramedics, and the death had initially been treated as unexplained.

But a post mortem yesterday revealed that he died from injuries, and a murder investigation was launched.

Detective Chief Inspector Sam Ridding, from Force CID, said: "We are currently trawling CCTV of the area to determine Danny's last known movements and we would like to hear from anyone who can help us build a picture of whom he has been associating with and where he is known to frequent.
