Man 'shot' in Birchley Island Toys "R" Us gun drama

A man has been injured in a suspected shooting on the car park of Toys "R" Us in Oldbury this afternoon.

Police were called at around 3.30pm following 'several reports' of a man with a handgun.

This afternoon, officers had sealed off part of the car park and were searching an area near McDonalds for clues.

West Midlands Police spokesman Pete Edney said "Police have launched an investigation after reports a man was shot at in an Oldbury car park this afternoon.

"Police attended and found a man who had suffered minor bruising. He has been taken to hospital to be checked over.

"Detectives are currently at the scene and are carrying out enquiries into what happened.

"A number of people were in the area at the time of the incident and any witnesses are asked to contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
