Woman, 76, punched in face outside West Brom Supporters Club

A man punched a 76-year-old woman in the face and kicked her car during a "disturbing and unprovoked attack" outside West Bromwich Albion Supporters Club.

The attacker, who was carrying a grey bucket, launched his assault as the victim parked outside the club in Westbourne Road, West Bromwich.

After hitting her in the face, causing a cut lip, bruising and swelling, he walked off towards Clifford Road.

Pc Michelle Proffitt, of West Midlands Police, said: "This was a very disturbing and unprovoked attack against an elderly woman who was innocently parking her car.

"He caused damage to almost every panel of her car and as well as suffering the injuries to her face the victim has been left very shaken up by what happened."

The attacker is described as white, around 6ft tall, aged 20 to 23, of slim build and with brown hair.

He was wearing blue jeans, white trainers and a grey hooded sweatshirt. He was carrying a grey bucket with a silver handle and lid.

Pc Proffitt added: "The attacker was carrying a distinctive bucket during the assault and someone may remember seeing him in the area.

"These kinds of offences are unusual in West Bromwich and we would ask anyone with any information about the man responsible to come forward."

The attack happened at around 8.10pm last Tuesday
