New lap dancing club to open next to adult cinema in Bilston

A lap dancing club is set to open next to an adult cinema in Bilston in the new year – if they can get the girls.

The opening of Foxy Lady's Dance Bar has been delayed because they cannot recruit the staff.

The new bar, which features three poles, a stage, several booths and a bar set in the backdrop of darkness, is due to open in mid to late January.

Around 20 jobs, a mixture of part time and full time, will be created. It will be open from 12pm to 4am.

Boss David Parsons, aged 66, insists that the new bar in Oxford Street won't be 'lewd', but admitted customers using the cinema will likely be taking a look at the new club.

He said: "We haven't got a date confirmed for opening yet but we're looking at January.

"We'd like to have got it open sooner but we can't get the girls at the moment.

"A lot of the ones we've been in contact with have work elsewhere and they don't want to move until they know they're secure here.

"There will be a lot of jobs available, I expect at least 20. A lot will be part time, which is just the nature of this kind of work.

"But that's security staff, bar staff and that kind of thing. That's not even including the girls.

"I've had the place since 2001. I had leased it out but I'm glad to get it back, we have a lot of plans. The place has had a chequered history.

The site was once a banqueting suite

"It's not lewd or anything like that. It'll just be there for the men who want to see the girls. It'll be run properly with the correct licences and security.

"I expect people who go to the cinema will be interested. I've made no secret about it, it's been there since 1995 and has been very successful.

"A lot of girls like watching girls dance, it's not just the blokes.

"It used to be an Indian banqueting hall. I wouldn't say it was derelict before, but it's had quite a major revamp.

"We used to do weddings here but we found there wasn't as much demand for those type of functions any more.

"I'm in it to entertain people. If people can come in and leave with a smile on their face I'm happy."

Mr Parsons also owns next door pub The Alehouse and a large function room to the rear, which will be renamed The Rock.

He hopes to host a variety of entertainment including cabaret acts and darts tournaments in the future.

Plans are in place to have The Rock open by March 2017.
