The fire began in the car's engine at around 1.30pm before spreading to other parts of the vehicle.

No-one was injured as a result of the blaze, however fire crews were forced to close Pedmore Road while they made the area safe.

Crew commander Daniel Cartwright, from the Brierley Hill fire station, said: "We were called out just before 1.30pm to reports of a car fire on Pedmore Road.

"A fire had started in the engine of a BMW and very quickly spread to other areas.

"The driver of the vehicle was the only person inside at the time and managed to get out before he suffered any injuries.

"We did have to close the road in order to make sure the area was safe, which did cause delays for drivers, but we had it reopened in 25 minutes after we had advised motorists to avoid the area."
