Man, 80, hurt in Wolverhampton city centre

A man in his eighties has been taken to hospital after an incident involving a double-decker bus in the centre of Wolverhampton.

The elderly man was hurt as he was crossing the road along St Georges Parade, at the rear of the Wulfrun Centre, at around 12.20pm today. It is not clear whether he was hit by the moving the vehicle.

The man suffered cuts to his head and bruising to his legs. He was placed on a stretcher by West Midlands Ambulance service and conveyed to New Cross Hospital for treatment.

An air ambulance was also deployed from RAF Cosford, as fire crews from Wolverhampton fire station and West Midlands police also attended the scene.

Police closed the road until shortly after 1pm.

The injuries suffered by the man are not described as life threatening.
