Michael Chapman, aged 41, of Penzer Street, Kingswingford, appeared at Dudley Magistrates Court on Monday, applying for his licence back two years after he was disqualified following three offences in April 2014.

The court heard how, on April 30 2014, Chapman smashed into the back of a Ford Transit van in Standhills Road, Kingswinford and then drove off.

The van's driver followed, stopped him and called police and paramedics.

At a hearing on June 18 2014, Chapman pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle when above the alcohol limit, use of a motor vehicle without third party insurance, driving while disqualified and failing to stop after a road accident.

He was issued with a 16-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months.

He was also disqualified from driving for 40 months and put on a supervision order for a year.

At the time of the offence, there were 102 milligrammes of alcohol in his system.

The legal limit for driving is 80 milligrammes per 100 millilitres of blood.

Following his most recent appearance at court, Chapman will now be able to apply to get his licence back from July 1.
