Three cars, a van and a lorry were involved in the crash, which happened at around 11.20am on the southbound carriageway near the Junction 7 slip road for the M5.

Nobody was injured but debris in the road prompted highway maintenance to shut all three lanes until around 12.20pm.

Gina Lycett, of West Midlands Police, said: "There was a five-vehicle collision reported to us. There was damage to the vehicles but no injuries. Debris had to be removed from all three lanes. A temporary closure was put in place."

Initially just two lanes were closed, but soon shut all three lanes were shut to allow officers to deal with the incident and clear debris from the road.

Traffic was backed up to Junction 10 for Walsall as a result.
