The fire is believed to have started in a caravan and spread into the former Boat on Bentley Road South, forcing the temporary closure of the road.
A crew from Walsall station and Willenhall station attended around 3pm as did the hydraulic platform crew from Oldbury station.
It was not clear if the fire was started deliberately, but no one was injured.
The pub shut down in 2006 and was hit by arsonists a year later.
In 2009 a car wash was set up illegally on the car park which was closed by Walsall Council in a crackdown.
At one point there was a bid to demolish the pub and start up the business legitimately.
