Kenichi Phillips murder: Teen arrested over Birmingham shooting
A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder over the fatal shooting of Kenichi Phillips.
The 17-year-old was arrested this morning following the teenager's murder in March.
Mr Phillips, aged 18, was shot dead as he sat in a black Seat Leon on St Marks Crescent in the Ladywood area of the city just before 7pm on Thursday, March 17.
Today's arrest was made at 7am at an address in Smethwick.
Speaking after his son's death, the father of Mr Phillips revealed that he was to become a father. He said: "Kenichi was only 18-years-old. He was a great-grandson, a grandson, a cousin, nephew, brother, son and friend who was loved and will not get the chance to see his son born."
Post-mortem results revealed Mr Phillips died from a single gunshot wound.
A 22-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder the day after the shooting is still on police bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Inspector Jim Munro has re-appealed for information about the killing.
He said: "Our investigation continues and I still want to hear from anyone who may be able to assist us as we try to get justice for Kenichi and his family.
"There were lots of people around when this happened and they may hold vital information which could help us to drive this inquiry forward.
"I would ask anyone who can help to either call us in confidence on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
