A black Mercedes smashed through the wall and garden fence after it collided with another car at the junction of Walker Road and Guild Avenue at around 5pm today.

Crews from Bloxwich and Walsall fire stations were on the scene as well as police officers and the ambulance service.

Nobody was trapped and ambulance crew checked over the occupants of both vehicles.

Richard Elliot, crew commander at Bloxwich Fire, said: "A young child was in one of the vehicles involved - luckily they were sat in a recognised and properly fitted car seat which would have helped to prevent injuries.

"We advise all parents to ensure that their children are correctly positioned in the appropriate seat when travelling in a vehicle.

"We want to emphasise that road users should exercise more caution at junctions to prevent these incidents happening in the first place."

West Midlands Police investigated what happened and organised the recovery of the cars.
