129 homes for former Ridge Hill Hospital site
More than 120 homes will built on the former Ridge Hill Hospital site in Wordsley after the plan was backed by councillors.
A mix of houses and apartments will be built at the site on Brierley Hill Road, with 129 homes to be created in total.
Most of the current buildings in the hospital grounds, including the Keeling Centre and Shousters House, which are empty, will be demolished.
The site has long been eyed by developers who have been keen to transform the site. Plans for homes to be built at the site were first lodged as far back as 2007.
Residents have long called for the site to be cleaned up and the disused site brought back to life.
The application was approved by Dudley Council's planning committee, led by chairman Councillor Qadar Zada, at a meeting on Thursday night.
