£2,000 reward after cat found hanged over garden wall
A £2,000 reward has been offered for information after a cat was found hanged over a garden wall.
The Shelfield branch of PETA – People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals – is offering the cash incentive for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.
The black male cat, thought to be aged around five, was discovered suspended by a charger cable over a garden in Walsall at the weekend in Green Lane in Shelfield, Walsall.
PETA associate director Elisa Allen, said: "It's imperative any community faced with a sadistic and violent act like this take measures to find the culprits.
"Animal abusers are a danger to everyone. They take their issues out on whomever is available to them – human or non-human – and must be caught before they act again."
The RSPCA has been trying to find the owners of the black male cat. The charity is investigating and is appealing for information about who the cat belongs to.
RSPCA inspector Laura Bryant said she was horrified and heartbroken to find the animal in such an awful way.
"Unfortunately he has no microchip, so we don't know if there is an owner out there looking for him, as seems likely from the collar he was wearing.
"His nails were all broken which indicates a struggle and a vet who looked at his body said hanging was the likely cause of death.
"It is hard to know for sure what happened. We urge anyone with information about who he may belong to, or how he may have ended up in this terrible situation, to call us in complete confidence."
Anyone with information should call the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.
