Mother died from head injuries as husband charged with murder

A mother-of-two from Netherton died after suffering blunt force head injuries, an inquest heard.

Jacqueline Abbott, aged 54, of Lodge Crescent, died of 'extensive and severe head injuries' on December 11 last year, the inquest at Smethwick Council House was told yesterday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and Mrs Abbott's body was formally identified by her son Martyn.

The inquest was told that a pathology report revealed the cause of death was blunt force head injuries.

Mr Zafar Siddique, lead coroner for the Black Country, suspended the inquest subject to the outcome of ongoing criminal proceedings.

Mrs Abbott's husband Paul, 56, has been charged with murder and will appear in Wolverhampton Crown Court on March 7 for a plea and case management hearing.
