Tanveer Iqbal, who ran the Hi-Tech Music shop in Shireland Road, was found in the boot of his Renault Clio in Edgbaston, Birmingham on Monday - just two days after he celebrated his 33rd birthday.

Flowers have been laid at the music store, which Mr Iqbal ran alongside his three older brothers.

Black Country Chamber of Commerce president Ninder Johal knew Mr Iqbal and his family through his own musical endeavours.

Mr Johal told the Express & Star he was 'absolutely shocked' to hear of Mr Iqbal's death.

"The reason why this is such a shock was Tanveer was the happiest guy you'd ever meet, he had a permanent smile on his face.

"I congratulated him on Saturday for his birthday and didn't realise that would be the last time I'd communicate with him."

Mr Johal said the circumstances surrounding Mr Iqbal's death were 'a big puzzle'.

"You just don't expect that. I can't get my head around it."

Mr Iqbal, who lived in Edgbaston, was reported missing at around midday on Monday after not being seen since closing his shop on Shireland Road on Sunday evening.

Police said enquiries led officers to nearby Portland Road, where Mr Iqbal's body was found in the boot just before 2pm on Monday.

Tributes have also been paid to the popular father-of-two online

Bilal Noshahi Soharwardi wrote on Facebook: "It is with great sorrow that my dear uncle, my friend my brother Tanveer Iqbal from Hi tech musics has passed away .

"He was such a lovely person who shall truly be missed."

Scores of well-wishers have gathered at the Corbett Street Mosque in Smethwick to offer their prayers.

Detective Inspector Paul Joyce, who is leading the investigation, appealed for anyone who may have seen Mr Iqbal to come forward.

He said: "We're working around the clock to try to piece together events leading up to this man's death.

"If anyone has any information which they think may assist me with this investigation, I would urge them to get in touch as soon as they can.

"I am particularly keen to speak to any witnesses who may have seen Mr Iqbal between closing his shop in Smethwick on Sunday night and the time he was discovered at lunchtime on Monday."

Police can be contacted on 101 or information can be passed to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
