Callan Fendall-Betts, 15, died from pneumonia

The funeral of Callan Fendall-Betts was held at Gornal Wood Crematorium yesterday.

The 15-year-old from Lower Gornal passed away on New Year's Eve after developing the cough on Boxing Day.

He had a lung condition for six years and also lived with epilepsy but it did not stop him leading a normal life and it was not expected to be life limiting.

The teenager had enjoyed Christmas before celebrating his first anniversary with his girlfriend two days later. He was looking forward to the future, having been accepted at Halesowen College.

His fellow Year 11 from Ellowes Hall Sports College lined up outside the gates as the funeral cortege passed on the way to the crematorium.

Some of his friends also joined the family at the crematorium for the service.

There was an outpouring of grief following Callan's sudden death with floods of tributes paid by friends and classmates.

Bouquets of flowers were also placed at the school gates.
