Lara Mason, from Hussey Road, is well-known for her meticulous creations, having sculpted the likes of Prince George and Harry Potter as well as a half-sized Land Rover Defender.

After the shock death of Bowie on Sunday, following a battle with cancer, Mrs Mason said she had been asked to do her own special tribute.

In a post which featured a picture of the finished cake, she said: "Lots of requests for this one today. I only had a few hours to get him finished, so I hope I have done him justice. He is made completely from fondant and is life size. RIP Starman."

The post has since been shared more than 200 times and received more than 1,000 likes.

Talented Lara has taken her cake creations to Cake International in Birmingham in the past, scooping gold awards for her efforts.

At the 2014 event, she made an iced replica of Jennifer Lawrence, which the Hunger Games star herself described as amazing.
