A small group of travellers have set up camp on a residential car park in Walsall.

A large caravan and two vehicles were seen on the car park of the Dolphin House homeless project in Goscote on Monday afternoon, prompting calls from a local councillor to move the travellers off the site.

Councillor Peter Smith said: "This is only a small unauthorised encampment but the fact is this is not what the land should be used for.

"I would urge the council to move the vehicles along as quickly as possible.

"I am sure that is what they will be doing.

"It is also a concern that they are parked near to a place where vulnerable people live."

The sighting comes days after travellers were moved from an illegal camp on Barr Beacon nature reserve.
