IN PICTURES: Cannock Chase photographer sells out of calendars

It started with 12 wildlife photographs posted on Facebook - but within two weeks an amateur snapper has started selling his own calendar.

Without any real self-promotion Tesco worker Neal McIntosh, from Stafford, has made a bit of a name for himself by taking stunning pictures with his £100 second-hand camera on Cannock Chase.

Now the 50-year-old admitted his hobby has become a bit of an addiction and he is finding every minute to sneak out for a few snaps.

He said: "I put some stuff on Facebook for the hell of it because I like to see people's reactions.

"Then I put 12 shots on, one for each month, which I liked and one of my friends said I should do a calendar.

"I was in two minds whether to do it at first but I have been badgered into it.

"A few people said put me down for one but before I knew it I had shifted the first batch of 26.

"But at that point I hadn't had the money to put anything together so they had those completely on trust in my work.

"I ordered another batch of 14 and all of those have gone as well."

The calendars have been put together by a firm in Ireland at a cost of £6.50 each meaning Mr McIntosh has made next to nothing on sales, shifting them at £9 a pop not including any postage fees.

But at the moment he is happy to simply share his work with other people.

The father of one moved back to Stafford around three years ago after living in Spain's Basque Country.

Since then he has sent pictures regularly to Staffordshire Wildlife Trust and even had one of a stag on the Chase printed on the front page of the Express & Star.

He said deer were among his favourite subjects to capture as well as insects, particularly bees which he photographs near where he lives by Radford Bank.

He said: "At first I was nervous about doing the calendar but now I am quite excited because I just don't know where this is going to take me.

"I would like to think I could do something more with this.

"People appear to have confidence in my photos."
