Walsall man dies after shooting

A Walsall man has died after suffering a gunshot wound.

The man, believed to be Stuart Benger who was in his 30s, passed away on Thursday night after battling in hospital for two days, police have now confirmed.

Officers were called to a home in Barns Lane, Rushall, at 6.30pm on Tuesday after a reports of a gun shot.

Mr Benger was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham in a critical condition but on Thursday he passed away.

Police stated that the death was not suspicious and confirmed that one possibility was that Mr Benger shot himself with a homemade gun.

The force has now handed over documents to the coroner who is looking into the death.
