A 40-year-old woman from Telford was standing on a platform when she was approached by a man who touched her inappropriately before walking away.

The assault happened just before 11pm on Saturday, September 26, and the man is believed to have arrived at Wolverhampton on the 10.31pm Manchester Piccadilly train from Birmingham New Street.

PC Sunil Rathod from BTP said: "Nobody should be subjected to this sort of behaviour and we are committed to tackling sexual offences on the rail network.

"Understandably, the woman was left upset and distressed by what happened to her, and we commend her for coming forward and taking a stand against whoever did this by contacting us on our text service.

"CCTV from the station has picked up a man who was in the area at the time of the assault and we would like to speak to him to see if he has any information which may help us with our enquiries. I would urge anyone who knows who he is to contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting reference M/B3 22/10/15. Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
