The bizarre cloud formation was spotted by David Steatham as he left Asda in Cape Hill, Smethwick on Monday.

A cloud-shaped England, Wales and Scotland were all clearly visible against the backdrop of the setting sun.

Quite spectacularly, Northern Ireland could also be seen.

From East Anglia to Kent and over to Cornwall, many distinctive parts of the country were recognisable.

Mr Steatham said: "I was trying to make it out and then I realised what it looked like.

"It was quite fun really."

It is the latest unusual cloud formation to be spotted in the Midlands skies.

In August, residents in Kidderminster spotted a giant wall cloud overhead as a storm passed through the town.
