Neither of the boys, aged 14 and 15, was required to attend a brief hearing at Wolverhampton Youth Court yesterday.

The older defendant is accused of causing grievous bodily harm to Mr Cruwys on March 7 this year.

West Midlands Police charged the 14-year-old youth with wounding Mr Cruwys with intent to do grievous bodily harm after a five-month inquiry.

Both boys, who are from Wolverhampton, have been bailed to appear at the city's magistrates' court on September 18 alongside four men facing charges of wounding.

The 44-year-old father of two suffered serious head injuries and was left fighting for his life after he was brutally attacked in Little's Lane following the Wolves v Watford match at Molineux last season.
