The results of the Staffordshire Best Kept Village Awards were announced at a ceremony held at Stafford College last night

The annual competition, which this year celebrated its 60th anniversary, saw a total of 58 villages compete throughout the Staffordshire county.

The competition, organised by the Community Council of Staffordshire's dedicated working group, sees villagers compete in the competition which aims to promote cleanliness - taking the very best care of the private and public spaces - and pride in communities.

Haughton was crowned the county winners for the best large village and the night was also a triumphant one for villagers of Acton Trussell who won the county title for a second year on the spin after being crowned best Small village for the whole Staffordshire.
